It may not be possible to speak to your usual doctor.
NHS App
The most convenient way of booking an appointment is with the NHS App. Visit the NHS App to find out about the full range of online services available and also to register. The App can be accessed using a laptop, PC, tablet or smartphone.
Engage Consult
Non-urgent appointments can also be booked using our online consultation service. You will need to complete and application form and provide 2 forms of photographic ID to enable us to issue individual patients with a personalised registration letter giving log in and identification numbers, which will safeguard your confidentiality. You cannot create an account without one. Please ask at reception for further details.
Routine appointments
You can book a routine appointment up to 4 weeks in advance. Appointments are usually 15 minutes. If you have more than one problem to discuss, tell the receptionist so we can book a longer appointment.

If you need help when we are closed
The telephone number for Out of Hours calls between 8am and 8.30 am and between 6.00pm and 6.30pm is 0300 1230762. All other calls between 6.30pm and 8am should be made to NHS 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face to face, by video call or by text or email
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Home visits
If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. Please try to phone reception before 11am if you need a home visit.
A doctor or nurse may phone you back first, to understand what you need and help plan the order of visits. Home visits should only be requested for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability — we can usually see more patients, more quickly, at the surgery.
Getting help travelling to an appointment
If you need help getting to the surgery, contact Ryedale Community Transport (tel. 01653 699059).
If you think you are eligible for patient transport for hospital appointments, contact Yorkshire Ambulance Service on 0300 330 2000. Surgery staff cannot arrange this on your behalf, as eligibility is assessed by the ambulance service.
Medical Students
We are a training surgery for students from HYMS (Hull and York Medical School) and frequently have students sitting in with the doctors. We will warn you if this is the case. You will be able to request that no students are present during your consultation, if you so wish.
You may have an appointment with our year 5 medical student if you have a minor or acute illness. A GP will join the consultation at the end to ensure you are happy with your appointment.
